FYI.  I was out walking in Grant Park last evening (and what a gorgeous evening it was!) when I spotted a coyote lurking close to the bushes.

If you can picture walking about 50 paces south from the skating rink, he was there on the outskirts of the interior garden area.

There was a security guard outside of the Park District offices and I mentioned it to her.  Her response was "oh yeah - there's coyotes both here and at Northerly Island".

That is something the small dog walkers who let their dogs run around "off leash" might want to know about.

I agree.  I plan on letting our Board Pres. know and I've also sent an email to Richard Ward of NEAR in case he wanted to put out a neighborhood bulletin.

The coyote was quite large - beautiful yet surprising to see "up close and personal".  He certainly looked well fed, but that won't be the case in the dead of winter.

I share your concern and don't want to see any of the residents' dogs end up as a coyote snack.

I let Bob O'Neill from Grant Park Conservancy know and he in turn reported the sighting to the Park District's Department of Natural Resources and Animal Control.
